SPIN 2018 - Sharing Progress in Neonatology
WELCOME TO SPIN 2018
Sharing Progress in Neonatology
including
33rd International Workshop on Surfactant Replacement

Dear Friends and Colleagues,

Welcome to “SPIN (Sharing Progress in Neonatology)” including the 33rd International Workshop on Surfactant Replacement.  This Congress will highlight research progress in Neonatology including advances recently made in the prevention of brain injury and other neonatal diseases. SPIN 2018 will include the 10th Bengt Robertson Memorial Lecture.

We are grateful to welcome a faculty of  well-known speakers and experts in the field from all over of the world, who will discuss cutting edge issues in the field of prenatal therapy, postnatal adaptation and resuscitation, neuroimaging, genomics/metabolomics/the role of the neonatal period for adult disease, nutrition/probiotics, non-invasive ventilation, jaundice, apnoea, temperature regulation and pulmonary hypertension.

It is also our aim to obtain abstracts from participants in order to guarantee a high quality program, which also includes free papers and posters on current topics. Experienced chairmen will undoubtedly catalyze lively discussions in each of the sessions.

We expect over 300 delegates from numerous countries and different continents attending the meeting. In spite of the changes in the title of the Congress, we assure to keep the traditional workshop style in a very stimulating atmosphere.

This meeting is characterized by friendly interactions between speakers and delegates to allow an active debate on basic research and clinical issues, always aimed at improving the quality of care of sick newborns and preterm babies. We hope that returning home you are armed with better approaches to everyday clinical problems, and this probably constitutes one of the most important achievements of the recent SPIN meetings.

Both the Organizing Committee and I as President of SPIN 2018 look forward very much to meeting you all in Lübeck, a medieval town and UNESCO world cultural heritage site close to the Baltic Sea.

We hope you will enjoy a very interactive and stimulating scientific meeting in the northern light of summer 2018.

Prof. Egbert Herting

President of SPIN 2018
